right environment

In 2021, an internal assessment of our most pressing DEI needs led us to focus on making
our work environment more accessible to People of 
Determination (PoD) and eliminating
obstacles that may be discouraging 
women from taking on more diverse roles across our Group.

PEOPLE OF DETERMINATION 

We are ensuring our culture and physical spaces nurture a welcoming environment for People of Determination (PoD). 

In 2021, we inaugurated our People of Determination Development Programme to make all our spaces friendly to people with different abilities, and to welcome more PoD to frontline roles.

We are assessing our stores for accessibility, placing PoD into frontline roles in flagship locations, training our leaders and Human Resources teams to be sensitive to PoD needs, actively seeking out PoD for employment, training PoD for growing their roles within our Group, and organizing employee engagement activities with PoD centres.

We strive to create an enabling work environment for all, irrespective of gender or other personal characteristics. Our drive towards Gender Balance focuses on ensuring that men and women can equally unlock their potential and advance their careers within our Group.

While we are proud that our total proportion of female employees has reached 53%, and that women now occupy 40% of management roles we are working to increase the current 23% proportion of women in senior leadership roles within our Group.

The United Nations Women Empowerment Principle (WEP) Gap Analysis tool is helping us understand how our business processes and policies can cater to the different needs of men and women. We’ve also launched our Women in Leadership (WIL) programme to help fast-track high-potential female employees into senior leadership roles.

Dr Majed Al Usaimi, an inspirational PoD, addressed 13,000 people from across our Group on the importance of integrating PoD into the workplace and the potential that lies in the PoD community.
