PARTNERS
Building ethical &
responsible relationships
with partners & suppliers
We aim to inspire and be inspired by our brands, suppliers, local and
international entities to enhance sustainability across our operations
and supply chains.
ENGAGING WITH OUR SUPPLIERS THROUGH ASSESSMENTS AND DIALOGUE FOR A RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS
Completion of our Supplier Scorecard, first launched in 2019, became mandatory for all new suppliers in 2021. This ensures that the standards by which we select entities to work with are applied consistently across our supply chains.
We also engage with prospective suppliers who don’t meet minimum scores to offer them coaching and mentorship so they may in the future. In addition, we’ve made completion of our Supplier Scorecard a prerequisite to contract renewals with existing suppliers.

By 2021, 1055 of suppliers’ sustainability credentials had been screened through this strengthened onboarding process, representing 25% of our supplier base. Our objective is to continue and expand our effort to engage with all of them by 2025 and beyond.
Looking forward to 2022, we are launching our Third-Party Partner Code and further developing our partner training programme, our partner selection criteria, and our partner monitoring and audit programme. These efforts all aim to eventually unify our thousands of partners under a common code of ethics, which we believe will strengthen sustainability practices across the region.
PARTNERSHIPS FOR EXCHANGING IDEAS WITH GOVERNMENTS AND NGOs
Partnerships with local and international sustainable development entities set the standards for our efforts and allow for mutually beneficial exchange of ideas.
We became signatories of the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in 2014. Appointed as a board member of the UNGC in 2018 and 2021, our Group President Patrick Chalhoub is committed to integrating universal sustainability principles of human rights, fair labour practices, environmental protection, and anti-corruption into our operations.
Our teams work to enhance their sustainability expertise by joining SDG Ambition accelerator programmes to align our operations with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

On a regional level, we became signatories of the Pearl Initiative Business Pledge in 2018 to promote adoption of higher standards in corporate governance, accountability, and transparency.
In 2021, we focused on promoting sustainable economic practices in Saudi Arabia. Chalhoub Group was nominated to the board of the newly founded UNGC Local Network in KSA, and we are committed to its mission of helping the local private sector adopt the UN SDGs and form impactful collaborations.
In 2022 we will be sending delegates to events like the One Young World Summit, the world’s largest and most impactful annual youth leadership summit, and the UNGC Global Compact Leaders’ Summit.
We engage with our suppliers, brands and industry experts to enhance the sustainability performance of our business practices.
For the 7th year in a row, we were among select companies in Dubai to be awarded the Advanced level Dubai Chamber CSR Label for our ‘outstanding CSR efforts.’ For the first time in 2021, Chalhoub Group also applied to EcoVadis, a renowned international sustainability assessment tool which provides holistic sustainability ratings to companies. The process is helping us implement stronger sustainability policies and practices.
